Detailed Description
Camels originate from the Middle East and North Africa. However, believe it or not the country with the most camels is Australia, they were imported in the 19th century from Arabia, India and Afghanistan, to help in the transportation and mining sector in the desert.
In the American continent the most similar animals are the so-called "llamas" in South America. They are very distant relatives, however, the type of desert vegetation of Baja California Sur, makes it an accessible place for these animals to live in a environment similar to what they are used to
Important: The company in charge of making this excursion, is a 100% social and responsible company. Let me tell you that all these camels are rescued from circuses, and in this way you are helping these animals to survive because otherwise they would have to be slaughtered.
The animals are healthy, clean, in very good spirits, because they are cared for with great affection. We still cannot communicate with them, but they seem to enjoy the adventure very much, they love carrots.
If you have always been curious to feel the sensation of riding a camel like in the movies of the caravans in the desert, Then here in Cabo San Lucas this can come true and we combine fantastic views of the sea and the desert , one of the best excursions that Los Cabos has to offer.
Pickup
We have a pickup service in the vast majority of hotels in San José del Cabo, the tourist corridor, and Cabo San Lucas.
The only way that we can not pick you up is if the hotel does not allow the entrance of external vans, or that they are a very remote point or without access from the road. So you just have to sit back and relax, we will take care of making sure you have a memorable day of your vacation
Rancho Tierra Sagrada
We have a road trip to the place where all our facilities are and where our camels live. The place is called TIERRA SAGRADA, it is a very nice trip in a van which has air conditioning and water in case you are thirsty, our purpose is that you are as comfortable as possible.
Camel ride
First, we have to give a detailed explanation of how camels behave, how to ride them, what they like, what we can do and what they don't like. We have to be very respectful because they are living animals that feel.
Later, we will put on an outfit more suited to this adventure that is a turban, similar to the one worn by the Arabs, do not worry our staff will teach you how to put it on and if necessary they will adjust it themselves.
To get on the camel there is a platform and in the part of their hump they have a kind of specially secured saddle, so it is quite interesting, but very safe.
Camels can hold very heavy weights, their large broad legs are designed for walking on the desert sands and here in Cabos the ride is on the beach, which is the closest thing to the desert.
However, despite being very strong animals, there is a weight limit in the participants of this excursion, the camel can carry two adults of normal build without any problem.
During the entire journey and for greater safety, the camel will always be under the care of a person who will be guiding through a rope, to always keep it under care.
At the end of the journey, the most adventurous people will have the opportunity to kiss and hug our new friend, a staff person will be taking photos of this beautiful experience
Mexican Style Buffet Food
As a complementary part of this excursion you have a buffet meal included in the price. The food is delicious and is focused on typical dishes of the region such as roast meat, chicken with mole, rice, cheese, quesadillas, beans, etc.
They will also have a brief explanation of tortilla making and a tasting of tequila, mezcal and damiana (liquor from a plant that grows in the desert)
Guided nature walk
If you are interested in knowing the secrets of the desert, let me tell you that this tour will amaze you with all the things you can know, Deserts have many medicinal plants in addition to explaining the way in which many of these species survive in this inhospitable climate.

"Our guide Jon was excellent as was our driver Sergio. Living in NZ we hadn't been in a deset before. Enjoyed the walk with Jon giving us heaps of info, then the camel ride by the sea. Great lunch with tequila tasting which even my partner enjoyed even though he is a non drinker. Would recommend this tour to anyone."

"My husband and I recently visited Los Cabos for our honeymoon. One of our tours was the Camel Safari by Cabo Adventures led by Ted, Sergio and their crew. Cabo Adventures sent a shuttle to our hotel at 7:40 a.m., and we headed to their main office at the marina in Cabo San Lucas for a few minutes before going to the ranch. I was a little apprehensive at first, fearing the camels would be exploited day and night for the sake of tourism. To my surprise, we learned about how they have been rescued, the health controls offered to them, their schedules resting every other day or more and with additional care of the environment such as the turtle nesting protected spaces around the ranch. We had a wonderful time walking through the ranch and learning all kinds of new info about cacti and the natural herbs grown in the area. We also had a delicious lunch in which Ted showed us how to make tortillas from scratch and tasted mezcal, tequila and licor de Damiana and took A M A Z I N G pictures beachfront and throughout our walk. I definitely recommend this tour and special thanks to Ted and Sergio for making us laugh so hard all morning!"

"Make sure you know what you are going in for. You ride the camels for only twenty minutes of the three hour tour. We got a nature tour from Arturio who was a wonderful tour guide and knew a lot about the land and plants - we just didn't know this was part of the tour when we signed up. After the nature tour - we were taken back for an all you can eat dinner. Food is fantastic!!! Compliments to the cook who made mole chicken, beef fajitas and a mexican pork dish. All were fantastic. Only downside was the only drink we were offered was hibiscus water. It was not bad but it was not very cold either. They told us part of the tour was going to the bird zoo too. However we finished dinner to go to the bird zoo and it was already closed. Guess the afternoon tours do not get this part. The last portion of the three hours was spent sitting around waiting on our shuttle. For over an hour. During that time we could have bought things from the store $, bought some tequila from the tequila room $, bought drinks and candy from the store up front $ or my favorite part - bought pictures of us on the tour $$$$$. They take away your phones and cameras and do not let you take pictures. For a small fortune - you can have all the pictures they take for you. We looked at our pictures and many of them were terrible with our eyes closed, heads turned, hair in our face. If you are going to spend hard earned money on a tour - make sure you know what you are getting and that you will need a lot of money on the back end of you want to take advantage of everything they offer."
Bryan
"Riding the camels was interesting. Getting to interact with the picture camel, Juan, was fun. The meal was tasty and filling. The highlight was our guide Luis and his knowledge of the camels and the local desert life."
Steve
"Interesting information on Camels while waiting for our turn, professionally run and nice they take such great care of the Camels. The lunch was better than expected with amazing Chicken with Mole.. as good as any restaurant I have been to."
Alice
"I'm a huge animal lover and I really try and avoid supporting places that abuse and treat the animals poorly (Circuses, Sea World etc..) Luckily, someone on here mentioned that they rescue camels and alternate their working days. I think there are about 18 or so camels in the ranch? We visited on Oct 26th. It was super hot and i was a bit worried about the camels being overworked and having to carry us heavy humans and walking for about 20 some mins in the hot sand... Shortly after the walk, the camels went back to their den to "rest." I just hope what they're telling people is true and that they do keep and take good care of the Camels..."
Doug
"not sure what to expect as we had never ridden (or kissed) a camel. . Our guide was very knowledgeable about camels and the flora of the area. The short walking tour through the brush was quite nice as was the ride on the camels on the beach. Made for a very nice break from the pools and beach."
Micky
"We had an amazing time riding the camels and exploring the outback. Our tour guide Ted was extremely friendly, knowledgable and super fun to be around. The camels seemed to be really well taken care of and were magnificent to look at. Their welfare wasnt in question and would highly recommend this tour and highly recommend asking for Ted!"
Roxie
"We had an excellent tour with Christian as our guide. The transportation was very easy. The guides were very informative and personable. The tour was very organized. The camel riding was great. The meal was great and the tequila tasting was excellent. I would definitely recommend the experience. You will have to buy your pictures; however they take a lot of great pics. I understand there are complaints on the reviews about the cost of the photos but amusement park photos are equally as expensive. The photos taken were great and I bought the video as well."
Sara
"Our family of 3 enjoyed the camel safari. It was a pleasant drive to the ranch. We had an interesting photo session with the camels and our guide Chris was very informative. After a fun 20 min ride on a camel we were taken on a short nature walk to see different types of cacti. Lunch was delicious and the lunch area was by the ocean - we could see whales in the ocean as we were having our lunch. It was a well spent half a day.."
